Sac City Rollers

Sac City Rollers (SCR) is a roller derby league based in Sacramento, California. SCR currently consists of three intra-league teams, a junior team, and two travel teams which compete against teams from other leagues.
The league was founded by two friends: Christine Galindo, known as "Devil Doll", and Nicole Kennedy, known as "Loco Coco". They saw the ''Rollergirls'' television show, and immediately decided to form a local league. Within a couple of months, it had sixty skaters,〔Rachel Leibrock, "(Big wheels )", ''Sacramento Bee'', March 13, 2006〕 and it was playing bouts before the end of the year.〔Abbe Smith, "(Derby team roll in to Mother Lode )", ''The Union Democrat'', November 6, 2006〕
By 2011, the league had more than 100 skaters, and regularly sold out its 700-capacity venue.〔Rik Keller, "(Sac City Rollers: Shamrock Slam photo essay )", ''Sacramento Press'', March 13, 2011〕
Sac City was accepted into the Women's Flat Track Derby Association Apprentice Program in April 2011,〔"(12 Leagues Accepted into Apprentice Program )", WFTDA, 13 April 2011〕 and became a full member of the WFTDA in June 2012.〔"(Nine Leagues Become Full WFTDA Members )", WFTDA, 1 June 2012〕
